Global Seed and CC&S, in partnership with Ayusa International, collaborated in producing this US Department of State two-way exchange between the US and Senegal. High school students and leading educators from each country were recruited from minority and urban demographics not traditionally served by exchange programs in either country. During the exchange, students participated in community service projects, cultural enrichment activities, global skills training, and other types of experiential group learning designed to develop civic responsibility and commitment to communities. Beginning at UC Berkeley, students and educators from both countries learned the Y-PLAN process while Global Seed facilitated a unique cultural experience focused on urban and minority issues. Global Seed led the program in its second phase deepening and enriching the experience as it continued in Senegal.
